SWISS will resume recruiting and training new pilots from 2023. The training will be provided by the European Flight Academy, which is operated by the Lufthansa Flight Training Company. Swiss student pilots can also benefit from financial support for training.
Swiss International Airlines (SWISS) will resume recruiting and training new pilots next year after suspending such activities due to the coronavirus pandemic. SWISS will also employ 80 senior officers who have already completed their training at Lufthansa Flight Training Switzerland (LAT).
“We are delighted that after a two-year hiring freeze we can now offer a new generation of job opportunities for Swiss pilots, career prospects and an attractive workplace at the top, and that we can welcome even more new colleagues to our cockpit crew,” said Stefan, Chief Flight Operations Switzerland Kinan Ship. “We are now looking to train a new cockpit crew to ensure we continue to meet all cockpit crew needs for our flight operations in Switzerland.”
Two-year training for new Swiss pilots will be conducted by the European Aviation Academy (EFA), which is run by LAT. The training will take place at multiple locations including Opfikon and Grenchen in Switzerland and Goodyear (Arizona) in the US.
“Now is the perfect time for talented young people to pursue a career in the cockpit,” says Manuel Mayer, Managing Director of Lufthansa Aviation Training Switzerland AG. “As a Swiss-based Lufthansa Group training organisation, we offer our candidates high-quality basic and advanced flight training with Swiss instructors and a fleet of modern training aircraft.”
Swiss student pilots provided financial support
Candidates must have completed at least three years of basic vocational training or have access to university education without examinations. Swiss pilot students can also benefit from help financing the training costs included.
