The country’s Intellectual Property Office (IPO) issued a directive on December 19 stating:
“Accessing apps without paying a subscription is a copyright infringement and you may be committing a crime.”

But despite the recently published guidance, a spokeswoman for the IPO told Newsweek that “copyright law remains unaffected” and there are “a number of provisions in criminal and civil law that may apply where a password is shared where the intent is to allow the user to To access copyrighted works without paying.
“These provisions may include breach of contract terms, fraud or simple copyright infringement, depending on the circumstances. Where such provisions exist in civil law, it will be up to the service provider to take legal action if necessary,” a spokesperson for the IPO said.
In the case of Netflix, it is the responsibility of the member who created the Netflix account to be responsible for any activity that occurs under the account.
“In order to maintain control of the account and prevent anyone from accessing the account, the account owner must maintain control of Netflix supported devices and not disclose the password or payment method details associated with the account to anyone,” per the Netflix terms of service.
