Students from several public schools in Paraíba landed this Tuesday (31) and Monday (30), in João Pessoa, after spending three months in exchanges promoted by the Conexão Mundo program integrated into the general principles of the Internationalization Program. Government of Paraiba. In total, 98 students from various regional education sectors participated in the exchange in the form of an international high school. Students took classes for three months at five British universities: Warwickshire College, Cheshire College and Cambridge College in England; and Neath Port Talbot College and Brookshire College in Wales.
Upon landing at the Castro Pinto International Airport in João Pessoa, the parents of the students could not hide their emotions. Luciglete Araujo, mother of Hayter Ricardo, a student at the State Military Police College, commented on her son’s experience. “It was a different experience for the parents. We were very worried during these three months, but we were very happy that he got this opportunity. He has been waiting for this for a long time and I believe this experience will be very important for his professional future. A unique opportunity offered to the students by the State Govt. He is very happy,” Luciclite said.
As they walked through the arrival gate, emotion also gripped the students. Everton Henrique, ECIT Professor Bráulio Maia Junior, a student based in Campina Grande, commented on how the exchange can change one’s own future perspective. “When I travelled, I found it very difficult to communicate. I was too nervous to speak, but once I got there, I learned to lose my shyness and this freedom helped me a lot. The exchange experience, being in another country and experiencing another culture helped me a lot. I believe that the time I spent there will help me personally and professionally,” he highlighted.
Shelley Bianca, a student at the State Military Police College, also spoke about the exchange experience: “I have no words to describe what these three months have been like. I met incredible people who will be essential in my life from now on and everything was a huge learning experience. I learned things there that I didn’t learn here. I am sure that all this will help me become an increasingly competent professional.
Phases of the project – The first phase of the program was carried out between January and March this year, with the participation of 3,744 students who learned English and Spanish, from April to May 2022, to qualify for the second phase, the use of direct examination and knowledge test. , in June. Of the 1,714 students who qualified for the second phase, 400 were admitted to the third and final phase to enjoy international exchange.
