Costumes, large groups, 32 performers and orchestras on stage. With all this structure, the musical “Om Dia na Broadway” opened this Friday (16) in the capital, São Paulo.
The show pays tribute to great American musicals, such as Priscilla, Evita, Chicago, Grace, Les Miserables, Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast, Phantom of the Opera, Cats and Mamma Mia, Hare, and Cabaret until July 9th.
The 160-meter-long panel with LED light strips will reproduce classic New York landmarks such as Times Square, Broadway, the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, Harlem, the Empire State Subway and Grand Central Station.
The plot tells the story of a family going on vacation to New York. As the couple travels, celebrating their wedding anniversary in the city where they met and fell in love, they lose their children in the Grand Central Station metro station. In an effort to find their parents again, two brothers venture to places where they believe they will find their spouse.
“Um Dia na Broadway” has general direction and dramaturgy by Billy Bond and Andrew Mitten, composition by Billy Bond and Lilio Alonso, musical direction and arrangements by Bond and Villa, stage direction by Marcio Yakov, and choreography by Italo Rodriguez. The show features scenery by Marcelo Laria and costumes by Paula Canterini and Feliciano San Roman.
