Sedese participates in the resumption of the Minas Gerais Technical Science Forum

The event highlights the government’s use of technologies to develop comprehensive public policies in Minas Gerais.

In a joint effort to promote social and economic development in the state of Minas Gerais, the State Secretariat for Social Development (SEDESE) attended the public hearing for the launch of the Minas Gerais Technical Science Forum, held at the Minas Gerais State Legislative Assembly (ALMG). This event, which brought together representatives of several educational and research institutions in the state, resumed on Monday (8/12) after being interrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“SEDESE uses different technological tools to produce studies, reports and evaluations of public policies for social development. In this logic, the Multidimensional Poverty Index – IPM Minas, an index calculated by Sedese that seeks to understand the phenomenon of poverty beyond income analysis, and the Mapeia Minas system, which aims to identify the geographic location of vulnerable families living in risk areas, stand out,” said Gabric in his speech at the José de Alencar Hall.

Forum and Schedule

The Minas Gerais Technical Science Forum, an initiative of the ALMG Education, Science and Technology Committee, of which SEDESE is a partner, aims to prepare the State Plan for Science, Technology and Innovation. The plan will be discussed and voted on in regional meetings that will be held in different parts of the state, starting on 23/8, in Diamantina, covering the valleys of Jiquitenhonha and Mucuri.

These are free events open to community participation, with the aim of ensuring that public STI policies are inclusive and sustainable, contributing to reducing inequality and promoting development across the country.

The regional meetings, which will culminate in the final stage in Belo Horizonte, at the Legislative Assembly of the State of Minas Gerais, from November 25 to 27, will allow for broad participation from society and experts, ensuring that the implementation of the State Plan for Science, Technology and Innovation is widely discussed and adapted to the needs of the country. The public consultation will also be available on the ALMG portal, allowing all interested parties to participate.

August 26: North and Northeast Regions – Montes Claros – State University of Montes Claros (Unimontes).

September 2: Southern Region – Lavras – Federal University of Lavras (UFLA).

September 9: Urban areas of Belo Horizonte, Central, Central and West – Belo Horizonte – Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG).

September 13: Vale do Aço and Vale do Rio Doce regions – Ipatinga – Federal Institute of Minas Gerais (IFMG).

September 16: Triângulo Mineiro and Alto Paranaíba – Uberlândia – Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU).
