SeaWorld Orlando Park on Wednesday (19) announced its newest ship, “Pipeline: The Surf Coaster,” which as the name suggests is inspired by the world of surfing and should go live in the second quarter of 2023.
The proposal for the extreme sports-inspired game would be to allow visitors to “surf” at the heights. For this, the base of the wagon will be a kind of board where you can stand during the loops and feel the movements as if you were facing the sea waves.
In an announcement to the press, park president Kayleigh Miller also stressed that SeaWorld “will be the only place in the world where there is a roller coaster like this one” and said he looked forward to welcoming the first visitors to experience the attraction.
The pipeline will have a high-speed departure, to deliver an immersive experience from the first second. Safety locks should keep people upright so they can surf. The course will slide across giant waves as the “benches” move from top to bottom, to deliver realistic sensations.
The entire route will be 880 meters long with curves, five peaks of so-called “air time” – where there is a sense of weightlessness or gravity – and a reflection that simulates a wave lasting one minute and 50 seconds. It has a top speed of 96 km/h and a height of 33 metres.
To experience the adventure on the seventh roller coaster in SeaWorld Orlando history, the minimum visitor height must be 1.37 metres. The game was designed by Bolliger & Mabillard Consulting Engineers Inc. , a company based in Switzerland.
