The Fapero Prize for Science, Technology and Innovation “Prof. Dr. Wilson Veneziano ”was held on Thursday, 17, at the Salon Rosilda Shokness, in the building of the Rio Madeira Palace, in Porto Velho. Promoted by the Government of Rondonia and implemented by the Rondonia Foundation for the development of scientific, technological and research actions in Rondonia, in collaboration With the Secretariat for Economic Development – Sedec, the award was presented in its second edition, to honor researchers and correspondents who provide services related to science, in the state of Rondônia.
Members of Fapero’s board of trustees have also been recognized. The aim of the award is to encourage culture in terms of innovation in production chains and integration between the government, the scientific community and the business environment, in order to bring about improvements for society in Rondonia, being the only scientific award that has more prestige at the state level. In the 2022 edition, Fapero has chosen the researcher Professor. Dr. Wilson Veneziano as a way of honoring the related services rendered by the researcher of Embrapa, who chose Rondônia for his research on coffee culture (in the 1980s), and thanks to these, Rondônia is an exporter of coffee, being one of the largest producers in Brazil with sustainability and profitability.
The Board of Trustees, which is made up of four segments of society in Rondônia, is represented with honorifics by the following members: Elizan Nogueira (representing Giselle Santos), Anderson Kohl, Kleber de Matos, Paulo Moreira, Marcio Rodriguez, Dueslyn Vieira, Najila Pinheiro Clodoaldo Freitas, Nigella Matos.
Awards
Prizes were distributed to the first and second place winners in each category. The other only got a certificate. The winners are the following researchers and communicators: 1. Innovative Researcher: Luiz FM Pfeifer, Carolina Teles. secondly. Communication Specialist: Fania de Oliveira, Jose Gadelha Jr. Third. Distinguished Investigator: Luis Marcelo Aranha Camargo, Carolina Doria.
The researchers honored with a certificate are: Ricardo Gilson, Estevao Fernandez, Xenia Barbosa, Ducelyn Vieira, Ariel De Souza, Victor De Souza, and Rodrigo Rocha.
The cash prize for the first place amounted to 7,000 Brazilian riyals, and for the second place, 3,000.00 Brazilian riyals. Funding resources for the prize come from the Government of Rondônia. The award aims to highlight the importance of scientific, technological and innovative research, the results of which have produced knowledge and benefited, directly or indirectly, the development and well-being of the people of Rondônia and the professionals who have contributed to the approximation through scientific journalism. Between science and technology, innovation and society, it is also remembered.
