Flamengo waited for River Plate's last match this season to pay the fine for terminating the contract, at the request of de la Cruz himself. This is because last Friday (22), the Argentine national team, still with the Uruguay national team, defeated Rosario Centra (Argentina) 2-0 and won the European Champions Cup. Shortly after, Mingo made the payment and confirmed the signing of the midfielder.

A new era, now at Flamingo

After six years at River Plate, de la Cruz joined Flamengo. This is because Rubro-Negro paid €16 million (R$79 million) for the player's termination fine. The midfielder signed a five-year contract with Florida, valid until the end of 2028.

De la Cruz is expected to come to CT Ninho do Urubu for the Flamengo rematch, scheduled for January 8th. Therefore, the Red and Black coach, Tite, must rely on new reinforcements at the beginning of the pre-season.
