Resolution establishes a chamber to qualify deforestation data

The Ministry of Environment, today (2), published in Official Gazette of the Federation (DOU)a Precision Which creates a thematic room to qualify data on deforestation and forest fires. The goal is to distinguish between environmental crimes and other activities.

To carry out the work, the Chamber will use official databases, including those of environmental monitoring programs and projects coordinated by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), “particularly in the areas of vegetation change and fire.”

The college will also have to consider, according to the text, the importance of strengthening command and control measures and effectively combating environmental crimes; to promote public policies that promote sustainable economic development; and qualify data on illegal deforestation and suppression of local vegetation for national economic policies.

In addition to representing the MMA, which will coordinate the work, the Chamber will be formed by representatives from the Ministries of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply; Defense, economy, justice and public security.

The deadline for completion of the work will be one year, starting from the date of the first meeting of the university.
