PS5 Slim: Even with its small size, the console doesn’t give up an important function

The PS5 Slim will also support memory expansion via NVMe SSD. If the new console’s 1TB of memory isn’t enough for you, you can still increase internal storage by purchasing an external component.

Speaking to IGN, a Sony spokesperson confirmed that the new PS5 Slim will still have space to accommodate an additional SSD. He confirms that there are no changes in functionality between one console and another, besides the addition of a removable Blu-ray player.

The new PS5 Slim contains an internal SSD drive with a capacity of 1 TB, but it is not yet known how much of this space will be available to install games. In the original PS5, an 825GB SSD provided 667GB of storage for downloads.

When it comes to storage, the more the better. Having more space on the console allows you to install more games at the same time, without worrying about the size of each game. Moreover, it allows you to install updates without any problems.

Sony points out that to be compatible with the PS5, the SSD must be connected via an M.2 input, support the PCIe Gen4 bus and have a minimum speed of 5,500MB/s.

The new PS5 Slim will be released soon

The new PS5 Slim will go on sale in November this year in the United States. International distribution of the console will only take place in the coming months – and there are no expectations of it arriving in Brazil.

The console will be sold in different versions and now includes additional accessories, such as a vertical mount and a disc reader.
