The PlayStation 5 Pro has not been officially announced, but since mid-2023 information has emerged about its existence, specifications, Sony’s potential plans for the console, and a possible launch date sometime around Christmas 2024.
The first source to talk about the PS5 Pro was Tom Henderson of Insider-Gaming, in an article that also first talked about the PS5 “Slim,” but since then several media outlets like Digital Foundry and Jeff Grubb have confirmed this information, and even added more details that they heard from their own sources.
For months, Henderson has maintained that Sony plans to launch the PS5 Pro in late 2024, sparking huge speculation about the console’s announcement timing and release date. However, Henderson now says that its arrival this year is not guaranteed.
After months of suggesting that the PS5 Pro would arrive in 2024, Henderson commented on social media that the console might not arrive until this year. Addressing a comment that Gamescom or Showcase in September would be the perfect time to unveil the console, Henderson left the possibility of a PS5 Pro arrival in 2025 up in the air.
At the moment, we don’t have official information, but after seeing Henderson say for months that the PS5 Pro would arrive in 2024, it’s strange to see him now talking about a possible 2025 arrival.
