A negative Covid test will be required to attend cultural or sporting events, visit the homes of seniors, or enter bars and clubs.
Portugal resumes demand for indoor masks
As for travel, a negative passenger test will be required on all flights with Portugal as the destination.
After the holiday season, from January 2 to 9, remote work will be mandatory again, school holidays will be extended and bars and clubs will have to close.
Although 87% of its population is fully vaccinated, Portugal has seen an increase in Covid-19 infections.
On Thursday, the country recorded 3150 new cases of infection within 24 hours, according to the latest bulletin from the health authorities, which is the highest level in nearly four months.
Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa said at a press conference that the country has entered a high-risk phase, and this is the time to adopt preventive measures.
