A military plane with 92 people on board, including three pilots and five crew members, crashed on Sunday (4) in the southern Philippines, the armed forces chief informed. At least 29 people were killed and 50 injured, according to information from Philippine Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.

The Air Force said in a statement that the Lockheed C-130 crashed in half while trying to land on Jolo Island, Sulu Province, adding that rescue teams are present immediately.

Many of the passengers recently graduated from basic military exercises and were sent to the island as part of a joint force fighting armed groups in this Muslim-majority region.
