The project, developed at the National Center for National Disaster Monitoring and Warning (Simaden), in São José dos Campos, seeks to analyze organizational capacities to prepare local governments and communities in the face of extreme weather and climate events. The goal is to develop strategies and public policies to confront these problems.
The Master’s Fellow will analyze municipal capacities and needs to prepare for extreme weather and climate events.
The PhD Fellow will analyze the perceptions and risk communication strategies of public managers and communities regarding extreme weather and climate events, taking into account the dimensions of age, gender and persons with disabilities.
Candidates must have training in areas related to social sciences, public policy, public administration, public relations, geography, social services, journalism, social communication, education, psychology, environmental management, statistics, among others.

The FAPESP Doctoral Scholarship lasts up to 48 months and has a monthly value of R$ 3,694.80 in the first year and R$ 4,572.90 in the second year. Financial assistance equivalent to 30% of the annual scholarship value will be awarded to cover expenses directly related to research activities.
