Today, Friday (14), the new president of Petrobras, Magda Chamberriard, nominated three names to join the board of directors of the state-owned company.
Nominations will remain before Petrobras’ internal bureaucracy It will be audited by the company’s board of directors.
- Renata Barozzi to the Department of Engineering, Technology and Innovation;
- Silvia dos Anjos to the Exploration and Production Division;
- Fernando Melgarejo to the Financial and Investor Relations Department.

The nominees will replace directors Carlos Travassos (Engineering) and Joelson Falcao Mendes (Exploration).
Fernando Melgarejo will replace Carlos Alberto Richelo Neto, who was heading the finance department on an interim basis, following the departure of Sergio Caetano Leite – who was sacked during Prats’ sacking.
Light is close to the former head of the state-owned company. The two were partners in some companies in which Prats had a stake before acquiring Petrobras. His departure was one of the first changes at the oil company under new leadership.
The current directors will remain in office until the nominees go through Petrobras’ governance process, before the names are approved.
“Changes in the composition of the board are normal for the change management process and in no way diminish the competence and commitment of colleagues leaving the company,” Magda Chamberriard said in a note.
Who are the new managers?
◀️ The new Director of Engineering, Technology and Innovation, Renata Barozzi, is a professional employee of Petrobras.
Barozzi holds a degree in Mathematics from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), a specialization in Strategic Technology Management from the Alberto Luiz Coimbra Institute of Graduate Studies and Engineering Research (Coppe/UFRJ), and in Management from IBMEC.
◀️ Silvia dos Anjos, who will head Exploration and Production, has also held positions at Petrobras throughout her career.
She holds a degree in Geology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), a Master’s degree in Geology from the University of Illinois in the United States, and a PhD from the same university.
◀️ Fernando Melgarejo is an employee of Banco do Brasil, and since 2022 heads the Share Management Board of Previ.
He holds a degree in Economic Sciences from União Educacional de Brasília (UNEB), a graduate degree in International Business from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), and a Master’s degree in Business Economics from the Catholic University of Brasília (UCB).
