Paulo Prax is no longer the sporting director of the Saudi Football Federation Vasco. The CEO was notified Thursday morning of his dismissal, one day after the team confirmed it would remain in Serie A, in the final round of the Brazilian championship.
Vasco x Bragantino – best moments
The decision was made by CEO Lucio Barbosa, in collaboration with 777 Partners. Understandably, the year’s goal was far from being achieved. The company’s expectations were to see Vasco fighting in the top part of the table, for a place in the pre-Libertadores stage.
There are two things that influenced the dismissal. The first is that the investment made in the 777 was not consistent with the team’s performance. The team’s restructuring, led by Paulo Prax, saw more than R$110 million invested in reinforcements over the course of the year. However, Vasco struggled to avoid dropping into the Brazilian league.
Another point is that the 777 considered the planning for the technical change to be flawed. After the dismissal of Mauricio Barbieri on 22 June, Vasco only announced his replacement Ramon Díaz on 15 July.
777 does not yet have a name to replace Bracks, but is in a rush to find a new manager and intends to announce it in the coming days. Especially since the new technical director is the one who will lead the planning for the 2024 season.
