Orlando Pride beat Houston Dash with Marta’s goal, but out of playoffs in US | International football

The regular season of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), the women’s championship in America, ended this Sunday with drama for the Orlando Pride of Marta, Adriana and Rafael. Brazil defeated the Houston Dash 1–0 with a goal from Marta, but did not qualify for the playoffs due to goal difference.

Martha converted a penalty in the 42nd minute of the second half and the win took the Pride level on 31 points with Gotham FC and Angel City, but Orlando trailed both on goal difference. In seventh place, they were last out of the playoffs, two goals behind Gotham in the draw. Andressa Alves’ Houston Dash finished tenth.

Caroline is injured and leaves the field crying

The San Diego Wave topped the then-leader Portland Thorns with 37 points as they were defeated 5-1 by Angel City in Los Angeles. The win guaranteed California a fifth-place finish.

The San Diego Wave and Portland Thorns have already qualified for the semifinals. The four playoff teams will face each other in two crossovers to determine the other semi-final.

The winner of OL Reign x Angel City will face San Diego in one of the semifinals. The clash between NC Courage and Gotham FC will lead to rival Portland Thorns in the other semifinal.
