On her first US tour, Tati Quebra Barraco Funk Black Women | Song

Tatty breaks the shake Enjoying every minute of his first US tour! With shows scheduled until next Saturday (17), the funk artist celebrated the reception of the American public and reflected on the female empowerment of the genre.

“Funk is culture, and yes, we understand that more and more. I helped start this process 25 years ago, and I believe we’re occupying more spaces today. And it’s important to us, especially for black women and women on the periphery,” she said.

One of the main pioneers of funk carioca, the singer seeks to highlight female empowerment and sexual freedom in her songs, thus representing marginalized women who are often invisible to society. It serves as a kind of tool to empower women to free themselves from subjugation.

“Funk tells about life in the favela. Both its joys, challenges and needs. In fact, it started there, when we women started to join this movement, marginalized, discriminated and sexualized, to break everything and give other women a voice,” she pointed out.

“Carioca funk is positioning itself as one of the most listened to genres on digital platforms for the next few years. Even so, the prejudice against us funk singers is still high. Especially against women. That’s why we need to occupy more spaces. I’m bringing my music to the US and all other countries. A well-deserved recognition,” Dati concluded.

On Friday (9), Tati performed in Jacksonville and on Saturday in Pompano Beach, Florida. Dotty rocks the stage in Newark, New Jersey on Friday (16) and Saturday (17).
