New York Jets celebrate win against Dolphins, what’s next for them.

The New York Jets are in unfamiliar territory at the moment, although it is territory that the team and its fans will undoubtedly be very happy to be in!

The Gang Green have been a team that have been mocked by many across the NFL because they have been underperforming for some years and have continued to miss out on playoff football. However, with the way that the 2022 season has gone thus far, perhaps things could be different for the team that plays its games at MetLife Stadium.

The Jets have gone 3-2 to start the season.

While being 3-2 after five weeks in the NFL is not something many will typically be shouting about all the time, it is certainly unfamiliar ground for those that continue to support the Jets through thick and thin. Indeed, if you wanted to try and remember the last time this happened, you would be forgiven if you could not remember.

According to the history books, the last time the Gang Green was over .500 at this stage of the season was back in 2017, therefore meaning the Jets have been 2-3 or worse over the previous five campaigns. One of the reasons the team has managed to climb to 3-2 for the first time in half a decade is that they were able to defeat the Miami Dolphins in Week 5.

Having led 19-17 by the time the fourth quarter had started, the team from New York had managed to score 21 points unanswered as they controlled the game and picked up a win after recording a 40-17 scoreline. Interestingly, it was a game in which quarterback Zach Wilson failed to throw for a touchdown, which may have been a cause for concern.

Furthermore, while there were many at MetLife Stadium and around New York and New Jersey celebrating the huge win, there will have been many die-hard fans that will have also realized that another milestone had been accomplished as a result of the victory over the Dolphins.

It was the first time since 2019 that Gang Green had managed to conquer a divisional opponent, having failed in the last 13 attempts to record a win against a fellow AFC East team. With this in mind, perhaps things are really turning around for one of the teams to have been mocked by the rest of the NFL for a long period of time.

What’s next for the Jets?

Of course, as we all know, professional sports can be a rather fickle thing and something that many are quick to move on from. What happens in Week 5 was certainly great for the team, however, fans and team personnel alike will already be looking ahead to Week 6 and their next opponents, the Green Bay Packers.

The game against the Packers could come at a great time for the organization as they will face an opponent that has just been rocked by the New York Giants – while they will have also had the long trip back to the US after playing in London this past weekend.

With these factors in mind, there may be some Jets fans and NFL enthusiasts in New York that might be considering a potential wager on the Week 6 clash, especially as they are able to place wagers on the action legally within the state.

Indeed, there are many who are already making the most of this season’s bets at Caesars Sportsbook NY where they can get competitive odds and markets. And, given the performances of Gang Green, many in the state will have looked at these closely recently, too.

So, with the game against the Packers coming up, will it be worth a punt for those that are potentially considering placing a wager on the action when the two teams clash at Lambeau Field?

Packers vs Jets and what else we can expect from Gang Green

Holding the same record, the Packers are also current 3-2 following their defeat to the New York Giants in London. As mentioned, this could be something that the Jets look to try and take advantage of, especially as they will be full of confidence following their comprehensive win against a divisional rival in the Dolphins.

Of course, it will certainly be a challenging game for the organization, however, it would appear that Robert Saleh has managed to get the team playing good football that is working. One problem might be the fact that the passing game is still a little incomplete, given that Wilson failed to throw for a touchdown in the last game. Nonetheless, he did make 14-of-21 completions and did not throw an interception; a positive.

Time will only tell if the Jets are able to get a win and go to 4-2, or if they fall back to 3-3, however the sporting schedule certainly does not get any easier for the franchise once they play in Wisconsin.

Week 7 will see the team play Denver Broncos on the road, before going to play against the New England Patriots in Week 8, before hosting the Buffalo Bills in Week 9. The two AFC East Divisional games will then be followed by the bye week in Week 10, before the return showdown against the Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough takes place in Week 11.

Given that the Jets have only just managed to win their first AFC East game at the 14th attempt since 2019, there might be some concern regarding the next few fixtures to be played.

Final Thoughts

The New York Jets have been surprising many with their football this season, with the team currently sitting 3-2 after defeating the likes of the Cleveland Browns, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Miami Dolphins; results that many may not have expected to have happened when they first saw the schedule.

However, while the first five weeks have been solid, the true test for Saleh and his players is only just about to start…
