Honestly, I’m not sure how much of a Lamborghini thing this is. Your usual thinking is to look forward, not back. It’s a company that creates special editions inspired by racing; the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, a 20-off lightweight 999kg racer that predates the Lamborghini Huracan; Lamborghini Terzo Millenio concept, supercapacitors developed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and the Lamborghini Scion FKP 37, its first production hybrid with a supercapacitor. But here we are.
In addition to the cues that take you back to the 70s, there are futuristic elements to this Countach. It’s, to some extent, a Lamborghini Aventador/Cian below, with a 769-hp 6.5-liter V12 engine, the last of the recently retired Aventadors, and the Cian’s supercapacitor technology that adds 34 hp to the 48 V electric motor. Gearbox.
I’m not sure how I feel about the looks. There’s no denying the drama or purity of the unique front-to-back sweep. Or is it more like a kit car that someone tried to make it look like a Countach and a little more like an Aventador? If we’ve never seen a Countach or Aventador before, will it stand up on its own?
