New English team uniform Nike's production has sparked controversy in the UK. The drama has received waves of criticism from fans, joining Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister of the country. The sports equipment supplier changed the color of the St George's cross, which appears on the back of the collar, from the original red and white – which appears on the English flag – to a combination of blue, purple and red. This Friday the Member of Parliament criticized the shirt.
– When it comes to our national flags, we should not touch them. They are pride, identity, who we are, they are right – Sunak told British broadcaster Sky News.
Nike described the change as a “homage to the team's 1966 World Cup-winning training kit”. In Nike's comments on the new kit, some Englishmen questioned the news.
A new shirt costs an English consumer 125 pounds, approximately R$785.00 (at current prices). A new design for England's Euro 2024 shirt.
