Space science enthusiasts have a place in Orlando: it’s the Kennedy Space Center, NASA’s theme park. In fact, the attraction is located on Cape Canaveral, a strip of land off the coast of the United States used by the United States government for research and space activities. Although the attraction is not exactly in Orlando, it is common for tourists who enjoy the Disney or Universal parks to go to the place, as it is only 75 km away.
At the Kennedy Space Center, visitors will learn about the history of American space research, watch films on the topic, enter a real spacecraft, participate in interactive activities, and, depending on the time of year, can follow a rocket launch. The park is part of a huge complex that was opened to the public in 1962 and covers an area of more than 56 thousand hectares, led by NASA.
Location and operation
It is located on the Space Trade Route, attractions east of Orlando, Florida. To get there, take State Road 528 east, following signs to Kennedy Space Center. If the visitor is exiting Interstate 95, take Route 215 to the south. From Merritt Island or Cocoa Beach, it is necessary to get to State Road 3.
The Kennedy Space Center is open daily from 9 a.m. However, closing times vary according to the seasons, so it is recommended to check the official website before each visit. Ticket prices are $57 ($290 BRL) + tax for adults and $47 ($240 BRL) + tax for children 3-11 years old. Tickets cover all attractions, exhibits, 3D space movies, Space Shuttle Atlantis®, Shuttle Launch Experience®, Apollo/Saturn V Center, and Heroes & Legends featuring the US Astronaut Hall of Fame.
Visitors don’t have to worry about accessibility either, as wheelchairs and prams are available for rent. In addition, all tours are wheelchair accessible. Pet kennels are also on offer, as well as lifeguards, ATMs, and bus stops.
Meals can be made on site, with many restaurants dotted around and many menu options. Orbit Café, Rocket Fuel, and Moon Rock Café are some of the options.

US Astronaut Hall of Fame
It’s The Astronauts’ Path to Fame, a place dedicated to honoring early space travelers as well as those professionals who excelled in the United States space region.
Meet the astronauts
It is also possible to meet and chat with a veteran astronaut. This way, during the meeting, the leaders, pilots, mission and payload specialists who have lived and worked in the space come together with the audience to share their experiences.
In Astronaut Today, tourists meet an astronaut to get his autograph. “Chat with an Astronaut” is an experience that allows the visitor to sit down with the astronaut today, in an informal conversation, to answer questions.
