Coach Marcelo Fernandez received good news in reintroducing the team Santos This Monday, at the CT Rei PelĂ© stadium, the Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos trained normally on the field, and may be available for next Wednesday’s match, against Fluminense, at Villa Belmiro.
Morelos suffered a muscle injury in his right calf at the beginning of last October, during training following the derby match against Palmeiras. Initial expectations indicated that the player would not return to the field until 2024, but his recovery was surprising. He is still relying on fitness to participate in Wednesday’s match.
Left-back Dodo also trained normally and will return to the team against Fluminense. The player could have participated in Sunday’s match against Botafogo, but Coach Marcelo Fernandez chose to keep him.
Defender Joao Basso and midfielder Tomas Rincon began transition work on the pitch on Monday. They should not be able to play for the match against Fluminense, but they could be available for Santos for next Sunday’s match, against Atletico PR, in Curitiba.
