Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Luciana Santos has advocated technology transfer under favorable conditions to developing countries. Before an audience of G20 ministers, in Mumbai, India, she promoted rhetoric calling for an end to inequality and the role of science in this process.
“My impression is that we are still far from fulfilling our commitments. With this in mind, during the Brazilian G20 Presidency, we will focus on reducing inequalities and disparities, and strive to discuss the issue of open innovation for fair and sustainable development. Brazil will assume the G20 Presidency, for the first time, in December 1, 2023.
According to Luciana Santos, the countries that make up the G20 should “consider deeply whether they are moving in the right direction and at the right pace to achieve the goals of the UN 2030 Agenda.” The Minister also stressed, to her correspondents from other countries, the importance of deepening the discussion on the decarbonization of the economy, the energy transition, the right to health, sustainable development in the Amazon region and the fight against inequality.
