The first Meta World Science Fair will be held on June 29 to provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge, creativity, critical sense and analytical skills. The exhibition will be held in the first court of Colégio Meta União Jardim Regina.
Among the objectives of the event are to contribute to the development of students’ scientific knowledge, integrate the school community, and encourage the use of English as a common language for exchanging scientific knowledge.
Entries were suggested in the following categories: Dian Fossey, aimed at children in the fourth and fifth years of primary school; Santos-Dumont, targeting students in the sixth and seventh years of primary school; Oswaldo Cruz, for youth in the eighth and ninth years of primary school; Marie Curie for high school youth; Little Scientist and Global Explorer, aimed at Colégio Meta students, also enroll in courses offered by Global Classroom, respectively for Kids/Toddlers and Teens/Secondary grades.
Following scientific methodologies, projects developed by science fair registrants must necessarily include choosing a topic, gathering information, putting forward hypotheses, constructing an experiment, observing and recording results, analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and sharing results.
The projects will be presented on the 29th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. It will also be necessary to prepare a poster explaining the research process and its results, according to pre-determined specifications. Up to eight awards will be presented, in the following categories:
Most Creative (Portuguese) and Most Creative (English)
Best Presentation (Portuguese) and Best Presentation (English)
Best Search (Portuguese) and Best Search (English)
Innovation Award (Portuguese) and Innovation Award (English)
Participation in English is not mandatory, except for exclusive Global Classroom classes. Display languages are selected at the time of registration.
The first Meta World Science Fair is expected to be an event that stimulates scientific skills, involving the school team, registered students and their families, as well as experts invited to evaluate projects.
