Find out what needs to change in WhatsApp with the new AI feature that Meta just launched for the messaging software
Technological development continues to change the way we interact with social networks, and now a new phase of this digital revolution has arrived in Brazil.
Thanks to their global reach, tech giants have invested heavily in developing solutions that make users’ lives easier. In this scenario, Meta, the owner of WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram, has taken an important step by launching its own artificial intelligence.
This innovation promises to change the way Brazilians use these applications on a daily basis, providing a series of new features that integrate directly with already known platforms.
Meta AI is generative artificial intelligence designed to compete directly with other popular tools like ChatGPT.
This artificial intelligence built into WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram responds to specific commands, making it possible to perform a wide range of tasks directly on social networks.
With Meta AI, users can perform actions such as searching for information, generating texts, or even creating images through the “Imagine” feature, without having to leave the applications.
In addition to traditional search functions, Meta AI enables more dynamic and intuitive interaction. This is because it facilitates access to quick and accurate answers to questions related to posts or topics discussed in the feeds.
Simplicity of use is also a strong point. So, simply click on the Meta AI icon or type “@MetaAI” in any conversation to start a consultation. The tool is available on both mobile devices and computers through the meta.ai website, although it still suffers from some limitations.

The tool faced challenges until its approval in Brazil
Finally, the Meta promise of this technology is to transform the user experience, making interactions more fluid and efficient. The possibility of creating multimedia content directly through platforms increases the creativity and productivity potential of millions of people around the world.
On the other hand, the arrival of Meta AI in Brazil faced some obstacles that delayed its implementation compared to other countries. The main issue was related to the disagreement between Meta and the Brazilian authorities over issues of privacy and use of personal data.
In 2023, the company updated its policies to allow the collection of public user data for the purpose of training AI, which sparked great controversy.
Brazil’s National Data Protection Authority deemed this practice to violate the GDPR, temporarily suspending the appeal. According to ANPD, Meta did not adequately notify users of changes to its policies.
After months of discussion, Meta committed to modifying its data collection practices. Therefore, it implemented a compliance plan that included advance notice to users and the ability to choose not to share their personal information.
