The legal dispute between Meghan Markle and her half-sister Samantha Markle does not give a truce and there is another important chapter in this fight: Meghan has just asked to dismiss the case that her sister brought against her in the Florida court, in the USA.
Last Sunday, 22, Samantha Markle’s attorney, Jamie Alan Sasson, told The Mirror: “We intend to take this case for trial by jury. I am confident we will overcome this request from the Duchess. We hope to start taking testimony in this case.” over the next six months.” Samantha claims that she was the victim of false and malicious statements that subjected her to humiliation around the world.
Samantha Markle is seeking $75,000 in damages, and claims Meghan Markle has ruined her reputation after comments the Duchess made about her childhood during a TV interview last year with Oprah Winfrey. The interview was broadcast in March of last year in the United Kingdom and the United States.
Recently, the Duchess’ lawyers filed an application to dismiss the case and sent to the Florida court a document containing 27 pages of justifications.
“I believe he will have relevant information,” Samantha’s lawyer said of Prince Harry’s possible testimony in a Florida court.
In addition, Samantha also claims that the book Finding Freedom, written by journalist and friend of Meghan Markle Omid Scobey and journalist Caroline Durand, also contains slander against her. During a lawsuit in London last year, the Duchess admitted to the High Court of London that the book was in fact based on information she provided to the authors.
