The 2023 US Open Men’s Final has been set! This Friday (8), Daniil Medvedev defeated Carlos Alcaraz in a match, winning three sets to one (7/6, 6/1, 3/6, 6/3).
Now, he will face Russian Novak Djokovic in search of his second title in New York, and Djoko will try to get his fourth title.
From the start, the match was amazing. The two protected their serves very well and competed for great points. In the tiebreak, Medvedev dominated Alcaraz and finished the first set after a tiebreak 7-3.
With great confidence, Medvedev dominated the second set and won 6-1, breaking the Spaniard’s serve on two occasions and making the world number one look like an ordinary player at times.
In the third set, Alcaraz showed his return to the match and won the set 6-3.
Just when things seemed headed towards the fifth set, the sixth game of the fourth part changed the story of the match. Alcaraz had five chances to reduce the gap, but Medvedev survived, breaking the Spaniard’s serve and leading 4-2.
He then held serve to end the match and secure his place in the final.
