Marquinhos Santos is the new coach of Ciara. He replaces Dorival Júnior, who took over the Flamengo. In 2022, Marquinhos already coached America-MG and left the club in April 2022. On Tuesday, the commander and the committee arrived in the capital, Ceará. The contract runs until the end of 2022.
Born in Santos, the 43-year-old coach started his career in 2012, in Curitiba, and has worked for clubs such as Bahia, Figueirense, Juventus, America-MG, Paysando and Chapecoense, in addition to his work in the U-Class of 15 for the Brazilian national team. In 2021, América-MG finished eighth in Serie A, securing the team in the Libertadores.
In Ceará football, Marquinhos coached Santos Fortaleza in 2016 (with 37 games and 19 victories) and in 2017 (with 10 matches and four victories).

Coach Marquinhos Santos left America in April 2022. The dismissal occurred after the defeat to Avai, in the first appearance of the Brazilian club, with a score of 1-0, away from home. Marquinhos Santos managed the team in only 26 matches, with 11 wins, 7 draws and 8 defeats. Use 51.2%. In the other five matches, assistants Diogo Giacomeni and Edson Borges took turns leading the team.
Marquinhos Santos took over Juventude, in his second spell with Rio Grande do Sul, on February 4, 2021. He led the team to the semi-finals and the Champion do Interior Gaúcho title, the second stage of the Copa do Brasil and in Serie A. The professional led the club from Rio Grande do Sul in 41 matches, with 13 wins, 12 draws and 16 defeats, with an advantage of 41.4%.
