The letters were published with evidence in issue (21) of the Official Gazette for today, Tuesday. Names must be approved by the Senate in order for them to be able to take office abroad.
First, the candidates are reviewed by the House Foreign Affairs Committee. If approved, they go to vote in the plenary session.
Who are the candidates?
If her name is approved, Viotti will be Brazil’s first female ambassador to the United States, one of the most prestigious posts abroad.

Viotti, who worked at the United Nations and was ambassador to Germany, was moved to the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs in Lula’s government, but the position remained with the current chancellor, Mauro Vieira.
Appointed to take charge of the embassy in the United Kingdom, Patriota served as Dilma Rousseff’s first foreign minister, between 2011 and 2013.
Bolsonaro even nominated Carvalho Neto to head the embassy in France, but Lula modified the selection. Now, he’s set up in Egypt, while Lula has picked Ricardo Tavares for the post in France.
For Argentina, another position considered strategic in Brazil, he chose Lola Betili, then ambassador to Morocco. He previously headed the embassies in Tunisia and Colombia.

- Sarquis José Buainain Sarquis, diplomat appointed to represent Brazil at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva (Switzerland);
- Reinaldo José de Almeida Salgado, a diplomat appointed as Brazil’s ambassador to the Netherlands;
- Paulo Roberto Caminha de Castelos França, diplomat appointed Brazil’s ambassador to Greece;
- Helio Vitor Ramos Filho is a diplomat who was appointed as Brazil’s ambassador to Argentina.
