Santo Domingo de las Chachilas (Ecuador) – João Victor Loureiro secured a crucial victory for the ITF M15 of Santo Domingo de las Chachilas on clay in Ecuador in a match postponed from last Wednesday to this Thursday.
Loureiro, 20 years old and ranked 820, defeated local No. 5 Andres Andrade, ranked 552, 6/1, 3/6, 6/4. The only Brazilian to win the first round of the tournament, he will play a double against Argentine Tobias Franco this Thursday, but the match was postponed again due to rain. The Nationals fight in the round of 16 at Sunrise
The two Brazilians in the main draw of the ITF M15 Sunrise won their games earlier this Thursday and will face each other in the round of 16. São Paulo Rafael Doceto, 23 and from Qualí, and Rio Grande do Sul’s João Vitor Ciolin capitalized on a good week to guarantee themselves a point apiece in the ATP.
Doceto defeated the Dominican from junior Tavares Qualley 2/6, 6/3 and 7/5. For his part, Seoul knocked out British 7th seed Blue Baker 6/1 7/5. After leveling the first set at 4/4, the match between the Brazilians for the round of 16 was interrupted by rain. The clash resumes this Friday and the winner could face either Austrian David Bichler or Italian Lorenzo Clavari in the quarterfinals.
