Corinthians held their last training session on Thursday afternoon ahead of the match against Botafogo, at 8pm on Friday, in the Brazilian League. Coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo has listed all the key players.
Thursday was tactical training on the pitch at CT Joaquim Grava, including game simulation. After that, the team was divided into attack and defense to carry out specific work in each sector.
Copa Sudamericana or the fight against Z4? Corinth weighs priorities
This was the only training session with key players on the pitch since the 4-4 draw against Gremio, with those who played more than 45 minutes in that match doing a refresher job on two consecutive days, on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Vanderlei Luxemburgo had already announced that the starting players would be included for this match, although the Copa Sudamericana semi-final is four days later – against Fortaleza, in the first match. On the other hand, the trend is that the majority of junior players do not complete 90 minutes on the field.
Bruno Mendes and Gil are available again after their suspension against Gremio. They are among 27 players released by Corinthians, four of whom must be dropped before the match.
Timao has more than one team suspended for yellow cards: Cassio, Wagner, Caetano, Lucas Verissimo, Mateus Bedo, Gabriel Moscardo, Maicon, Fausto Vera, Rooney, Ruan Oliveira, Peru and Yuri Alberto. If any of them are cautioned again against Botafogo, they will miss the classic match against Sao Paulo next week.
Corinthians’ possible lineup has Casio. Bruno Mendes, Lucas Verissimo, Gil and Matthews Bedo; Gabriel Moscardo, Maicon, Giuliano and Matias Rojas (Ruan Oliveira or Gustavo Mosquito); Wesley (Pedro) and Yuri Alberto.
The match at the Neo Química Arena will help Corinthians try to move away from the relegation zone. Timao has 26 points, only three points behind Santos, in 17th place. Botafogo leads the Brazilian league with 51 points.
