However, within Libra, it cannot be ruled out that LFF centers could join Libra and thus enter into an agreement with Globo. To do this, Liga Forte teams will have to accept the rules for dividing Libra funds, and the league's terms of administration. The intention of the Libra clubs is still to have a league, but within the same entity.
Libra Series A clubs were present at the meeting: Atletico MG, Bahia, Corinthians, Flamengo, Gremio, Palmeiras, Red Bull Bragantino, São Paulo and Vitoria. The total group consists of nine other teams from the Second Division.
There is already an official offer from Globo in the clubs' legal documents, which is a binding offer document. Although the clubs have agreed to continue negotiations, they can still negotiate the terms of this document.
Libra's decision to continue negotiating with Globo was driven by the fact that it was a concrete proposal and by the limited time until the Brazilian Championship in 2025. There was no longer time to resume negotiations from the beginning, from the clubs' point of view. However, Globo has the potential to sell the tournament commercially.
In a statement, Libra confirmed the information regarding following Globo's proposal. He stated that he realizes that this is the way to form a league: “For the LiBRA member clubs, this is an important step in the process of forming a national league, which includes 40 teams from the first and second divisions of the Brazilian Championship.” Since its establishment in 2022, this has been the main goal of the Foundation.
São Paulo President Julio Casares said in this statement: “It was a very productive meeting, where we analyzed the different forms of moving forward. Together, we chose to move forward with the proposal presented by Rede Globo, the historical partner of Brazilian football, which is already in Advanced stage of negotiations,” commented Julio Casares.
