Twitter has announced, through its official channels, that as of April 1, it will end verification procedures on the social network. Therefore, only those who pay for Blue Twitter You will be right to click blue in the bird app.
Elon Musk’s idea was not liked by Twitter users, who said they wouldn’t spend $8 (R$40 per month) to keep her verified. Among those people is one of the network’s most famous personalities: NBA star LeBron James.
He spoke about this decision on March 31, the day before the new policy went into effect. Check out the basketball player’s tweet that made a lot of people react to the post:
Welp GUESS MY BLUE ✔️ IT WILL BE GONE SOON BECAUSE IF YOU KNOW ME I DON’T PAY 5. 🤷🏾♂️

“Well, I guess my blue ✔️ will soon be gone because if you knew me, you knew I wouldn’t pay 5.”
After taking over Twitter, Elon Musk rolled out one of the plans for the social network, Twitter Blue. Those who pay for the subscription are entitled to several exclusive points on the site. Among them, the right to have a verification stamp on the account.
After tweeting his opinion, LeBron James got over 70,000 likes in the first hour of posting it. Currently, the NBA player has more than 55 million followers, which makes him one of the most popular people on Twitter.
Another celebrity who said he would not pay for verified stamps is Patrick Mahomes. The famous NFL player claimed that he will not pay for verification because he has children to raise. Remember, Mahomes is the fourth highest paid player in Major League Soccer.
Twitter bought by Elon Musk
For those who don’t remember, Musk bought the company for US$44 million (about R$223 million) in October last year. Upon taking over as CEO of the company, he initiated many changes in the social network.
Among them, there were mass layoffs, and the few remaining employees were forced to sleep in the Twitter office. In addition, Musk recently revealed that only those who pay for Twitter Blue will get the indicated posts and the right to vote in polls on the network.
