Many people use WhatsApp for various functions, such as chatting, studying, or even working. Because of this, there is sometimes a need to own more than one cell phone, without necessarily creating a new account.
For those who need this functionality, know that it is possible. Check out below how the new functionality works and see what other features the messenger is currently developing!
Can I use the same WhatsApp account on two phones?
Initially, according to information from the specialized portal on WhatsApp, WABetaInfo, all users who have the beta version of the messenger on their mobile phones can use the application simultaneously on two different cell phones. The option is available to those who have already downloaded the latest version of the app.
So far, the app only allows one account to be used on one device, except for people who have two different numbers (in this case, for WhatsApp Business use). That is, many people need to have another SIM to create different accounts on another tablet or cell phone.
function, hitherto known as “accompanying status”, was launched in November 2022, but was not yet available to all users of the messenger. This has changed, because from now on, all users of the application for Android will be able to use the same account on other devices, if they wish. Regarding iOS There are still no forecasts for availability. Check it out step by step:
- Download the latest version of the application to your second phone or tablet;
- Then, when the registration screen appears (to enter your number), press the three dots in the upper left corner and click on the text “Connect a device”;
- Now, on your main mobile phone, open the messenger and tap on Settings;
- Later, also click “Connect Device” and a QR code will appear;
- The last step is to scan the code with the secondary device and that’s it!

Another feature is also under development
Finally, another feature that has become very popular and is arriving soon is adding or modifying phone contacts within WhatsApp itself. So far, this functionality is only available to those who have the beta version, but it should reach other users soon.
In the old days, it was necessary to add a number directly through the phone’s contacts, so that later it would appear in the messenger. Now, those who can use the new format just need to click on “New Contact” and enter the phone number.
This possibility allows you to add the number even if you are in the conversation, without having to open your contacts from the device itself. Also, if you want to edit any information, such as the name of the contact, just do the same path in the messenger itself.
