LDU from Ecuador qualified for the group stage in the Copa Sudamericana. This Wednesday, the team tied 1-1 with Moshuk Rona and took the first place after winning 2-0 in the first leg.
This will be LDU’s return to the competition. The team was the South American champion in 2009, beating Fluminense in the decision. In 2021, the Ecuadorean national team was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the tournament.

In addition to LDU, three other teams secured qualification to the group stage: River Plate (Uruguay), Ayacucho (Peru) and Independiente Medellin (Colombia).
- Uruguay: River Plate 2 x 0 Liverpool
- Peru: Sport Boys 3×2 Ayacucho
- Colombia: America de Cali 2 x 1 IIndependent of Medellin (penalty shootout, 3-1 Independiente)
Five teams have already qualified, Tuesday, for the group stage in South America: General Caballero (Paraguay), Metropolitanos (Venezuela), Oriente Petrolero (Bolivia), Union La Calera (Chile) and Melgar (Peru).
The rest of the classifieds will be announced this Thursday. In all, 16 teams from the preliminary round will advance to the group stage in South America. He will join 16 other teams (six Brazilians, six Argentines and four Libertadores third stage exits).
The group draw will take place on March 25 with the Libertadores.
The Brazilian teams ranked are: Atlético-GO, Santos, Ceará, Internacional, São Paulo and Cuiabá.
The Argentine teams’ standings are: Independiente, Lanus, Defenca e Justicia, Racing, Banfield and Union de Santa Fe.
