Kyiv launched deliberate attacks inside Russia overnight, says Russia’s MD

Sputnik – Earlier, the governor of Russia’s Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said that three people were killed and at least four wounded after the deployment of air defenses.

Ukraine’s Defense Ministry said on Sunday that Ukrainian forces launched a premeditated attack on Russian territory. Air defenses were able to intercept the cluster munitions dropped by Ukraine on Belgorod, but their debris fell on an apartment building.

“Last night, from 03:00 to 03:30 Moscow time, the Kyiv regime carried out premeditated attacks using Tochka-U ballistic missiles with cluster munitions and Tu-143 Reis drones on residential areas of Belgorod and Kursk, where there are no missiles. It was deliberately planned and carried out against the civilian population of Russian cities.”

Meanwhile, two Ukrainian drones loaded with explosives were shot down before reaching Kursk, the ministry added.

The Ukraine attacks come as Russian and Donbass forces are advancing amid the special operation, putting pressure on Kyiv’s forces to retreat. Recently, the city of Lisichansk was liberated, which means that the Lugansk People’s Republic was almost completely liberated from the Ukrainian army.

Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24 after Kyiv carried out heavy bombardment in the popular republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, causing mass evacuations of civilians. In response, Moscow attacked the Ukrainian military infrastructure and began to liberate the Donbass cities from Ukrainian forces. President Vladimir Putin stressed that the operation aims to “protect people who have been subjected to genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.”
