King Charles III decided to break some of the protocols followed by his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who died at the age of 96. Crowned since September, the Queen’s consort Camilla Parker Bowles chose to record the Christmas message at St George’s Chapel, where the former English king and Prince Philip are buried.
It should be noted that the rooms of Buckingham Palace, the official residence of the royal family, have been the official setting for the speeches that Elizabeth recorded over the years. King Charles III not only honored the parents with the new site, but also throughout his message to his subjects.
I am here, in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, near the place where my beloved mother, the Queen, rests beside my father. I remember the deep and touching letters and letters that I sent my wife [Rainha Consorte Camilla Parker Bowles] It is for me. And I cannot thank you enough for the love and compassion you have shown our entire family. Christmas is a particularly poignant time for all of us who have lost a loved one, we miss them at every change of seasons and remember them at every celebration.
Next, the King spoke about the cost of living crisis in the UK. He touched on points involving causes for which he struggles, such as the importance of public service and religious pluralism, in addition to praising the work of professionals in the public sector, the health field and charities.
Concluding the Christmas message, the King recalled his visit to Bethlehem in Israel.
In this life-giving light and true humility that lies in our service to others, I believe we can find hope for the future. So let’s celebrate it together and cherish it always.
