Right-back JP Galvão left the Defensores del Chaco stadium in an ambulance, after injuring his elbow in the match between Botafogo and Guaraní, from Paraguay, Wednesday night for Sul-Americana. The player was substituted in the 19th minute of the first half.
According to the club’s statement, “The athlete JP suffered trauma to his right elbow, with a severe injury, and was taken away in an ambulance for an imaging examination.”.
Originally a midfielder, the player was selected by coach Bruno Lage to play on the right side in the round of 16 of the Copa Sudamericana duel – due to wear and tear, the Portuguese coach decided to form a reserve team.
It’s been five months since JP started among the rookies in Botafogo – the last time was against Resende, in a Carioca tournament, on March 5th.
Botafogo returns to Rio de Janeiro on a charter flight shortly after departure.
