John Textor gives one million Brazilian reals to Botafogo players to qualify for the Libertadores | com.botafogo

Qualifying for the group stage of the Libertadores was already good enough for the team. Botafogo. But after a 1-1 draw with Bragantino, last Wednesday night, at the Estadio Nabi Shedid, SAF owner John Textor informed the players that they would receive an additional bonus for qualifying: R$1 million for the group.

This was announced via video call, still in the locker room after the duel, in which the American took the opportunity to celebrate the rankings with the players. The amount offered will be divided between the players on the team, and there is no information on how this division will be made.

With the classification, Botafogo achieves the main goal for the first months of the year. Now, there are six more matches guaranteed in the group stage, which is scheduled to start on April 3.

Considering the Libertadores' prize pool last season, the entity paid R$15.1 million to participate in the group stage, in addition to a bonus of R$1.5 million for winning the same stage.

Also in 2023, CONMEBOL paid R$2.7 million to participate in the second phase and R$2.9 million in the third phase. Given these values, the club will receive at least R$ 20.7 in the qualifiers and group stage.
