Today, Monday (22), Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ social media networks began publishing a new logo for the presidential campaign, this time highlighting Harris’ name.
Kamala Harris’ networks are showing an image with the slogan “Let’s win this” along with the slogan that also says “Harris for President.”
The campaign’s press releases also stopped showing the old logo, with Biden at the top of the ticket.
Harris’ nomination has received support from most state governors and top Democratic Party officials, but still needs to be made official by the party convention.
Until Sunday, Biden and Harris’s networks carried the slogan “Together, we can finish the job,” with a logo highlighting the current president’s name and the URL “joebiden.com.” As of early this morning, he was following Biden’s Facebook page.
Biden withdraws from running
How did Biden’s campaign go until the end?
“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your president. While I intend to stand for re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and my country that I step aside and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term,” Biden wrote.
Former President Barack Obama has also weighed in on the issue. In a statement posted to Medium, the Democrat called Biden a “first-rate patriot.” Biden served as vice president during the Obama administration from 2009 to 2017.
The withdrawal comes after pressure from the party and some Democratic voters. The crisis in Biden’s campaign began at the end of last June, when he performed poorly in a debate against Donald Trump. At that time, the president’s cognitive ability was in doubt.
So far, the president has resisted pressure in a number of ways. He has given interviews, met with Democratic governors, and denied allegations that he is suffering from cognitive and physical decline. Biden has repeatedly said he will not give up and that he will win the election.
But in recent days, rumors of a withdrawal have been growing. Former President Barack Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, two powerful voices in the Democratic Party, have shown their insecurity with the current president.
The decision was made on Sunday, a source told Reuters. “Last night, the message was to go all in, all out. And at about 1:45 p.m. today, the president told his senior team he had changed his mind.” The decision caught many White House officials by surprise.
The Democratic Party has not yet announced who will be the new candidate to run against Trump.
During the televised contest in late June, Biden’s voice was hoarse — attributed to a cold — and hesitant and unenthusiastic at several points. Trump, by contrast, quietly and firmly launched into a series of lies, without Biden correcting him.
The debate was the “beginning of the end” for Biden.81. Doubts about the president’s age and fitness for another four-year term have sparked a crisis in the Democratic Party. Within the party, the idea of replacement has begun to emerge.
The US elections will be held on November 5. The Democratic National Convention, which will announce the party’s nominee for the White House, is scheduled to be held from August 19 to 22.
How did Biden’s campaign go until the end?
After Biden’s poor performance in the debate, the American press reported a state of panic among Democrats. Party colleagues were concerned about the president’s ability to serve another term.
At a campaign event the day after his meeting with Trump, Biden acknowledged the age issue and said he doesn’t debate as well as he used to, but said he knows how to “tell the truth” and that he intends to win the election.
The next day, several American media outlets, including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Economist, which supported the president, published editorials calling on Biden to drop his candidacy for the presidency.
Even with reports from US media and news agencies that Democrats are considering replacing him in the election, support for Biden from Democratic politicians and figures remained unanimous for a few days.
However, pressure has been mounting with statements from current Democratic politicians and prominent party figures such as Nancy Pelosi.
