Documentary director João Moreira Salles met, on Tuesday (9), with former Minister Luizio Mercadante, President of the Perseu Abramo Foundation and coordinator of the government program of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
The two talked about a future partnership between Instituto Serrapilheira, the organization that funds scientific projects in Brazil and founded by João Moreira Salles, and the Brazilian state.
Mercadante said he believes it is necessary to sign a collaboration between the institute, CNPQ (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) and Capes (Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel) to create a system of study globes that grants research privileges in excellence and this provides security for researchers.
They also talked about projects to fund research focused on the Amazon region, including with the participation of international funds. New conversations must be made.
The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Perseu Abramo Foundation in São Paulo.
