Jewel case: Dino says he has sent a request to the US government to cooperate in the investigation principle

Justice and Public Security Minister Flávio Dino said today Wednesday (13) that the department has already sent a request to the US government for international cooperation in the investigation of jewels and gifts received during the government of the former president. Jair Bolsonaro (PL). According to Dino, the order was sent on Tuesday (12).

Federal police are investigating an alleged scheme by advisers to the former president to improperly sell official gifts such as watches received by the Bolsonaro government. Among them was Lt. Col. Mauro Cid, Bolsonaro’s aide.

If adopted, the measure would allow the PF to access documents from US agencies that could clarify facts related to the investigation, including suspicions of money laundering derived from jewelry sales.

Last Saturday (9), Minister Alexandre de Moraes approved the award-winning cooperation agreement with Lt. Col. Mauro Cid, aide to former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

The minister also granted Cid temporary freedom, subject to precautionary measures such as the use of an electronic ankle bracelet, restrictions on leaving home on weekends and at night, and removal from military duties.

In its investigation into digital militants, the PF is investigating the existence of a criminal organization intent on attacking the rule of law in a democracy.

Since then, Bolsonaro has also been the target of an investigation involving the alleged improper sale of official gifts and jewelry received during the government.
