President of the United States, Joe BidenYou run the risk of facing a process Accusation A year before the elections in the country.
The Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, announced this Tuesday that he has called on House committees to begin formal impeachment proceedings against Biden.
“These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction and corruption,” the California Republican said in announcing the decision.
“They deserve further investigation by the House of Representatives. That is why today I am directing our committees to begin a formal impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden,” McCarthy argued.
What is Biden’s crime?
McCarthy’s maneuver was dangerous. He wants to base the process on suspicions that the US president benefited directly from his son Hunter Biden through shady dealings abroad.
To date, however, there is no known evidence that Biden personally profited from his son’s shady business dealings.
McCarthy is under pressure from more radical factions of the Republican Party, particularly those associated with former President Donald Trump.
The far-right wing of the party is also threatening to remove him as the Speaker of the Assembly if he does not continue the process.
Here’s what Biden’s allies are saying
White House legal spokesman Ian Sams called McCarthy’s actions “political extremism at its worst.”
According to Sams’ post on X earlier on Twitter, “House Republicans have spent 9 months investigating the President and found no evidence of wrongdoing. Members of the Republican Party themselves said so.

Biden’s impeachment really divides Republicans.
Members of the Republican Party, including some prominent critics of the Biden administration, view the impeachment process as a bad idea.
According to CNN, Republicans fear the plan will backfire and push Biden closer to the election.
Also, an impeachment process could divert debate from economic issues and other non-Biden issues.
“There are a lot of things we need to focus on,” Republican Senator Shelley Moore said when asked about Capito’s impeachment of Biden.
“I don’t see any overwhelming evidence that would compel us to move this forward. I didn’t see it in the Trump case, and I voted against it. I don’t see it now either.”

There is one more question. The current legislature is deeply divided and it is doubtful that McCarthy would have the majority to support opening a possible investigation.
So much so that the House doesn’t seem ready to vote on the matter anytime soon, even though House committees have been instructed to open formal hearings.
