Notes in Instagram DMs are sticky notes that act like post notes in users’ inboxes. You can send it to all your contacts in the app, just by making them follow you back. These messages allow a maximum of 60 characters and last for 24 hours. You can also send it to your entire Best Friends group—which is useful when, say, you’ve scheduled an event and want to remind everyone at once.
To make a note on Instagram, first of all, your app needs to be up to date. To do this, on the iPhone, open the App Store and search for the app. If a “Refresh” button appears, press it and wait. The procedure is similar on Android, but instead of the App Store, you’ll search the Google Play Store. Once updated, if the feature is already available to you, it will appear at the top of your direct messages. To submit, follow these steps:
- Open Instagram and go to your DMs;
- There, at the top of the screen, find the option “Leave a note”;
- Write your note and hit “Share”;
- There, select if you want to share the note with all the followers you follow and/or only your best friends. Soon, the note will be sent.

So, if you see an interesting post and share it with a contact through the app, you will be able to access it more easily. Just like referring friends, this feature is also under testing and has no release date.
