A ceremony to announce the resources provided by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation for the state government’s C-Jovem project was held on the afternoon of Monday 6 November. This event, which was held in the main hall of the collective deliberations bodies of the rectory of the State University of Ceara (Uece), was attended by the Secretary of Science and Technology for Social Development of MCTI, Iñacio Arruda, the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education of Ceara, Sandra Montero, Acting Vice President of the House Chaplain, Professor Darcio Teixeira, as well as representatives of IFCE, Instituto Atlantico and partner entities.
MCTI will allocate more than R$27 million to this initiative, directing more than R$12 million to the State University of Ceara. Through these investments, the C-Jovem project will ensure the training of 8,400 students at different stages of training, offering training tracks in technical and social skills in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector.
In this first phase of the project, Uece and Instituto Atlântico were responsible for introducing data science techniques and Fullstack development to 4,400 students (3,200 students trained by Uece and 1,200 students trained by Instituto Atlântico). The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Ceará (IFCE) will offer courses in 5G network infrastructure, cloud computing and iOS programming, serving a total of 3,000 students.
MCTI Secretary, Iñacio Arruda, briefly reviewed the history of the programme, which in its beginnings was called E-Jovem, being entirely an initiative of Ceará: “From this important initiative, Ceará has already reaped many fruits, and it is with great satisfaction that today we announce the disbursement of 27 million reais for Project C -Jovem. This allocation of resources reflects MCTI’s commitment to educating and training our youth in a promising sector such as ICT. Through these investments, we seek to train young people in search of knowledge and qualifications, prepare them for a successful career and promote the development of Ceará and Brazil.
The Government of Ceará, through Secitece, has invested in public policies that promote the education and training of young people in various sectors such as ICT. “To train young people in search of knowledge and qualifications, promoting the development of Ceará and Brazil,” highlighted Secretary Sandra Monteiro.
Acting Rector of the University, Professor Darcio Teixeira, praised the partnership signed between Uece, IFCE, Instituto Atlântico and other partner institutions in this endeavor: “This partnership for the development of the C-Jovem project can only succeed.” He concluded by saying: “We will train more than 8 “Thousands of young people, and we will teach them not only techniques but also social skills, providing them with opportunities to improve their lives and employability.”
