Lunar lake and artificial intelligence
“Lunar Lake” is the nickname for the Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processor, which launched globally in September this year to power a new wave of Copilot+ devices – the fastest and smartest Windows PCs ever, like the Zenbook S14.
So-called “AI personal computers” are developed specifically for AI, using advanced chipsets with powerful neural processing units, dedicated to running AI tasks within the device itself, with greater efficiency, speed and energy saving.
To receive Microsoft’s Copilot+ certification, an NPU must reach at least 40 TOP (trillions of operations per second, a parameter used to estimate NPU power), as well as having at least 16GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage. . Moon Lake reaches 48 peaks.
Manufacturers like Acer, Dell, Lenovo, and HP are also expected to launch their models with Lunar Lake in the coming months. Among the new Windows AI features that will be available on these PCs by the end of the year are:
- Recall: Helps you find and remember things you’ve seen and done on your computer, such as your timeline
- Cocreator in Paint: Creates AI images in near real-time, right on the device
- Live Translation: Translate any audio in over 40 languages into English
