Hurricane Milton creates Category 3 landslides and causes major damage

Hurricane Milton hit the Florida Gulf Coast south of Tampa, USA this Wednesday night, the 9th, as a category three, with maximum sustained winds of 205 kilometers per hour and heavy rainfall is expected. Leave millions in damage.

Power was immediately cut and coastal flooding threatened the cities of Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota and Fort Myers.

A million residents and businesses, mostly in Sarasota and Manatee counties, are without power, according to the Associated Press.

Two hours after making landfall in the continental United States, Milton became a category two hurricane, but heavy rain is expected to cause flooding of rivers and lakes.

The hurricane’s approach triggered several tornadoes, with the National Weather Service in Miami releasing photos of the tornadoes at X and announcing that Florida was experiencing “a very favorable environment for a dangerous, fast-moving hurricane.”

Kevin Guthrie, director of Florida’s Division of Emergency Management, said about 125 homes were destroyed before the hurricane made landfall, many of them mobile homes in senior living communities.

The hurricane arrives in the United States two weeks after Hurricane Helen, a Category 4 hurricane, caused more than 200 deaths and untold damage.
