Hurricane Arwen killed two people

At least two people have been killed in the UK in the past few hours by Hurricane Arven with blizzards and strong winds, leaving tens of thousands of people without electricity.

The British Meteorological Agency, which issued a red alert for much of the country last night, warned that “strong winds” could continue until Saturday.

The country is currently on orange or yellow alert, depending on the region, but weather services advise people to go only when needed.

In Northern Ireland, police say a man was killed yesterday when a tree fell on his vehicle. And in northwestern England, another died when a tree fell on him.

In Scotland, strong winds disrupted many railroads between Edinburgh, Glasgow and other cities. Many roads have been closed due to the rubble.
