Executive Secretary of Oversight in Health and the Environment, Ethel Maciel, confirmed the shortage of pediatric vaccines against COVID-19 in the country and is negotiating to expect new doses from Pfizer to arrive until the end of January.

The prospective vaccines refer to a contract already signed by the previous department of the government’s Ministry of Health Jair Bolsonaro (pl).
According to the secretariat, the file is trying to anticipate the arrival of:
- 3.2 million doses for children 6 months to 4 years old
- About 4.5 million doses for children ages 5 to 11
